Just TV (and JR Just TV) are programs designed to give youth the opportunity to express themselves through music and multimedia as an alternative to drugs, crime and gang activity.

About The Program

Just TV - runs out of the Broadway Neighbourhood Centre and is offered to youth between the ages of 16 to 24. Just TV was designed to provide youth with an opportunity to express themselves through Multimedia in a safe, fun, and creative environment as an alternative to negative influences such as drugs, gangs, and violence. Participants of Just TV engage in all facets of the Audio and Video industry. Participants are required to make their own video based on their own interests, experiences, activities and lives, including a body of work aimed at dissuading young children from drugs, crime and gang activity. Junior Just TV also operates out of the BNC and focuses on introducing music and video to youth between the ages of 9-12 & 13-15.

Who Is Eligible?

Just TV - youth who have been involved with the justice system - aged 16-24; Junior Just TV Program - youth between the ages of 9-12 & 13-15. Participants will come from various community organizations and youth programs in Winnipeg.

Who Does it Impact?

The Just TV program. Is part of the national crime prevention initiative, that engages at-risk local youth, many of them gang involved, to conceive, produce, and edit, and program their own videos with positive messages for youth. The youth involved participate in all aspects of the video creation, including the editing, and the skills training helps them to develop a social enterprise of youth, and boosts their self-esteem and sense of belonging.
